MEDICAL PEDICURE TREATMENT

For many of us our feet aren’t given much thought about until sandal season is upon us or something happens and there is pain. However, we are on them for hours at a time between standing in lines, walking to transport, shopping, exercising, literally our feet carry our bodies from A to B every single day, all throughout the day. There are muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments in our feet that are very hard at work doing this job for us and it’s really important we give them the care they need.

The health of your feet can actually be an indicator of your general health. For example, checking your feet for injuries you’ve not otherwise been aware of can indicate a more serious problem like diabetes. Therefore, taking good care of them should be a year-round effort. Here are some quick tips to get you started:

  • Wear shoes that fit properly - If they hurt your feet, they don’t fit you.

  • Wash your feet daily - Proper hygiene is so important in keeping fungal and bacteria infections away.

  • Moisturize daily - Avoid cracked, dry feet by moisturizing, year-round, especially during winter months.

  • Do Not go barefoot in public places - Germs wreak havoc in these places and can enter your foot through the smallest cut.

  • Take care of your toenails - Keep them trimmed to avoid ingrown toenails which can cause infection and great pain.

The Nourish Boutique NYC can help you with all of this! We can discuss good foot health with you, and set you up with a regular appointment schedule to come in from the basics of care to the full treatment! Be sure to look for our Blog where we will discuss the importance of Foot Health in more detail!!

Why Medical Pedicures vs. Traditional Pedicures?

While a traditional cosmetic pedicure focuses on making your toenails look as good as possible and gets rid of some dead skin, it ignores real problems and sometimes creates them. Not to mention, your feet are on display in front of all the other customers. Unlike nail salons, our professionals are trained to examine and treat foot and nail disorders using advanced equipment and tools and the strictest hygiene protocols. A medical pedicure is often performed in the private setting of a medical clinic.

Who could benefit most from a Medical Pedicure?

Because the benefits of a medical pedicure are more than just cosmetic, we think everyone would be better off with a medical pedicure. However, medical pedicures are crucial for: Diabetic patients, arthritis sufferers, runners, ballet and other dance professionals, athletes and fitness pros, doctors and nurses, actors and performers (Broadway? We’ve got you!), professionals who need to work on their feet, anyone who wears high heels daily and anyone self-conscious about their feet.

What actually happens in a Medical Pedicure?

The medical pedicure treatment is performed by Precious Renee’. After an evaluation of your feet, we dedicate the first half-hour to cleaning the feet and toenails, trimming and polishing nails, and if necessary, removing calluses, corns, and ingrown nails. In the last half hour, Precious Renee’ will finish the cleaning of your feet and remove any lingering dirt and debris gently from under your toenail, as well as hydrating the feet to prevent your feet from becoming dried out and cracked. The entire process can take about 60 to 75 minutes depending on the condition of the feet and the add-on services. The medical pedicure treatment includes A full assessment and consultation on the condition of feet, skin, and toenails. Extensive cleaning and cleansing, sanding, buffing, and shaping of the nails to remove dead cells and achieve maximum comfort. Removal of dead skin and buffing of the feet, removal of blisters, corns, and ingrown toenails. Smoothing out of calluses and dry, cracked heels finishing with a Reflexology massage. Restoration of natural toenail color, application of base, and topcoat.

Note: We don’t use water to perform the cleaning. We don’t do manicures or designs. A foot paraffin treatment, keratin socks, hot stones, and a foot facial can be added to the service for an additional cost.
